Fundraiser

This Saturday (Dec. 14), Ace's Bar and Grill in Tipton will be holding a benefit for the family of Chad Stover, who recently passed away after an injury he sustained during a high school football game. There will be a $5 cover at the door, with all proceeds going to the Stover family, and local band Dirt Road Addiction will be playing from 8:30-12:30.

The Guest Speaker at the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce Breakfast today (Dec. 12) was Matt LaCasse of the Boys & Girls Club of West Central Missouri. The main topic of LaCasse’s speech was centered on the organization's fundraising efforts for 2014.

Tis the season; the season for Santa!  I know that a lot of you have some fond memories and traditions that good ol' St Nick has been incredibly involved in this time of year.  Santa has always been a symbol of giving and helping out others, and believe me when I say that he practices what he preaches.

We here in Pettis County are a diverse group, living in all sorts of different situations.  Some of us live in a town like Sedalia, some live in a smaller community and some live out in the counties on their own rural properties.  Rural way of life can be very rewarding and also very difficult for those families.

Local Tipton student Chad Stover tragically passed away recently. Although gone, Chad is definitely not forgotten, and the community has rallied around his family with an outpouring of support. Several fundraisers have been planned, including one this Wednesday (Nov. 20) at Colton's Steakhouse in Sedalia.

As many of you may know, a tragic event recently took place in our area when Tipton football player Chad Stover was severely injured during a high school football game. Chad passed away last Thursday morning (Nov. 14) as a result of his injury. Table of 5 Catering is showing support for his family by holding a Wood Fired Pizza Fundraiser to benefit Chad and his family.

One of the things that me and the peeps got to go to last weekend was something I'd been looking forward to for a while: the 14th Annual German Dinner! It was held last Saturday (Oct. 26).

The Sedalia Kiwanis are always working to do everything they can for our kids and others in need. They're working to stay busy and get busier, recruiting volunteers and fundraising left and right.  They're doing some great stuff coming up this weekend, and next weekend, to that purpose!

For those of you who've lived in Sedalia for a while, the Quisenberry one-room schoolhouse is one of those staples of life gone by. It's a living, standing tribute to how far Sedalia and the school district has come in such a short span of time. We all may have our opinions about the school system, but we can all agree that what we have now is leaps and bounds of improvement from what the Quisenbe
