While audiences remain pretty split on Ridley Scott’s first official Alien film in nearly 40 years, one thing we can all agree on is there are some interesting gaps in the storytelling. It’s always difficult to argue that fans need to do homework before seeing a movie to appreciate the film; while there certainly are some clips and features available online that add depth to Alien: Covenant, a movie should always stand on its own two legs, and those frustrated by Scott’s decision to chop out sections of the movie aren’t going to give him a pass because they may be added back in somewhere later in the process.
Zack Snyder had so much additional material for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that he delivered a three-hour director’s cut for the Blu-ray release. And after all those reports of reshoots and competing cuts, Suicide Squad arrived on home video with a decent amount of bonus footage — mostly featuring Jared Leto’s Joker. As for Wonder Woman, director Patty Jenkins says you shouldn’t expect to see any deleted scenes when the film hits DVD and Blu-ray…because there aren’t any deleted scenes, like, at all.
The Star Wars saga might end with Episode IX, coming out in 2019, but Lucasfilm has already been hard at work expanding the universe and planning for more Star Wars and Star Wars-adjacent movies far, far into the future. We’ve already gotten Rogue One, which occurred, chronologically, somewhere between the prequels and the original trilogy, and focused on a group of small characters who turned the tide of the war whose names we might never had known. Then, we’ll get the Han Solo spinoff, something of a prequel in its own right, in summer 2018. But what’s next after that? Kathleen Kennedy says we’ll know in about a month.
Tom Cruise was very excited to announce earlier this week that Top Gun 2 is officially happening, and it looks like at least one of the original movie’s stars is extremely ready to get back in the cockpit. Val Kilmer played Top Gun’s Iceman, and he wants us all to know that he is so ready to come back.
Our favorite rock stars tend to make the rock 'n' roll lifestyle look like one big party, but the best musicians never lose sight of their art. Take Van Halen, for example: in spite of what it might have seemed like from the outside, former bassist Michael Anthony says the band's glory years were never as wild and crazy as they appeared.
The Simpsons production time leaves the FOX staple notoriously behind current events, but its take on the Trump administration remains as uncomfortably accurate as ever. See for yourself, as even more familiar figures hang around for the latest Trump parody.
