Missouri Man Shocks Wife With $100,000 Secret

Well everyone, I'm a person who loves true crime stories.  Documentaries. Reality.

I think we've established this.  But some of you are like me, and a lot of people just want to know the inner workings of why people do what they do.  I know I've seen tons of Dateline, 20/20, Snapped, Forensic Files, you name it, I'm there.

And it's always the same story, isn't it?  It's always people in nice sweaters sitting down and saying the same things over and over. "They were such a nice couple, everyone just loved them" or "He was such a quiet man..." or "They seemed so perfect!"  I mean, we hear that, and we roll our eyes a little, don't we?

We understand the point - the people running the show want to emphasize that every case is a regular, normal person, who then turned into an abnormal person. Something made them change.  An affair, a job change, a death in the family, kids, there are a ton of reasons things change in life.    I suppose part of it is so that you can keep your eyes open, see the signs, and be able take action if  you're in a similar situation.

Well, the story I'm going to share with you today... I'll just be real.  I WISH this one would happen to me. I would know exactly what to do.

A man in Ballwin has been married to his wife for many, many years.  If you're not sure where Ballwin is, think St Louis Suburbs.  Nice family, nice house, nice life, right?  Right. Just like your neighbors.  Then, one day, he goes to the local grocery store and comes home to his wife.  She then ends up screaming at him and grabbing him by the neck.

But he didn't call the Police.

Or Keith Morrison.  Or Josh Mankiewicz.  Not even Tamryn Hall.

He didn't even try to grab a weapon or leave the situation.  Why?

Because he was happy to be screamed at. And it wasn't because he was a glutton for punishment.  He wasn't cheating, he didn't have a hidden love child. Here's the facts.

A longtime “$100 Million Cash Bonanza” Scratchers player in St. Louis County won a $100,000 prize on a ticket he decided to go in and purchase while driving by Schnucks,  in Ballwin.

“I’ve been playing that ticket for a while. I really like them,” he said.  This time, however, he thought he would have a little added fun with his purchase.

“I usually take the tickets home to my wife and let her scratch them, but I decided to check it first before I left,” he explained.

He scratched off the ticket’s barcode, but left the play area unrevealed. He scanned it and realized he had won a $100,000 prize.

“So, I decided to trick my wife. I left it unscratched and left it for her,” he said. “She scratched it off and about broke my neck grabbing my neck and screaming so hard!”

Okay, so I did a little switcheroo for you there.  But still, a sweet story, and one of the few times I'd be happy to be screamed at.  I mean, if you're going to trick me, tricking me with a $100k is a good trick, right?

Congratulations to the nice couple.  You can just hear that it's an older guy, right? I mean, I don't know their names or anything because they chose to stay anonymous.  I just have a feeling it's like, some 70 year old guy who's been married for forty years and now he and his wife can finally have a little vacation or something just for them.

Or, at least, that's what I hope it is. I don't want to know if it isn't, and they get divorced or he takes the money and goes and blows it all on strippers and cocaine.

Let's just leave it at that.  A nice, happy ending, right here in Missouri.  Now, you can go back to your fog and cold and gross January weather.
