Over the past few days, a long-term drug investigation culminated with arrests and seizures to further address the scourge of methamphetamine and fentanyl in Pettis County, according to Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders.

The investigation included interagency cooperation with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force, the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lafayette County Drug Task Force.

On Jan. 24, a traffic stop was conducted via deputy’s mutual aid request with the Missouri State Highway Patrol in the area of North US 65 Highway and Rebar Road. A search of a silver Chevrolet Cruze was conducted by MSHP and Deputy Moore, who was accompanied by K9 Cav, resulting in the seizure of 54 counterfeit Oxycodone pills (fentanyl).

The driver, Stuart Gossett, 39, of Marshall, and passenger David Martin, 30, of Waverly, were arrested for Second Degree Trafficking and placed on a 24-hour hold.

During the following hours, a search was conducted of a residence in Saline County associated with Gossett and Martin. During the search, 70 grams of methamphetamine were seized. Gossett and Martin were issued warrants, during their hold, for Second Degree Trafficking with no bond.

On Jan. 27 at approximately 5:39 a.m., the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and Mid-Missouri Drug Task force served a search warrant at 6501 Monsees Drive in Pettis County.

“I am, again, so proud of the hard work from all agencies in the continued fight to eradicate the dangerous and deadly substances distributed in not only this county, but our great state. A huge thank you to all involved to include the virtual heartbeat of these operations in Joint Communications,” commented Sheriff Anders.
