STANDING WITH OUR VETERANS, AS THEY STOOD FOR US By Gov. Jay Nixon One in 12 Missourians – almost half a million of our state’s 6 million citizens – have served in our nation’s armed forces. Now ranging in age from their early twenties to over 95 years old, they defended the freedoms we hold dear, both during times of conflict and times of peace.

A big holiday is coming up that means a lot to many of us here in the Mid-Missouri Area. With Whiteman Air Force base being so close, and so many of our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers and friends being active military or a veteran, everyone is affected in some way.  And our local young people want to be sure that that day is kept sacred and thankful.
