I was having a conversation with Rob Edwards about how the playoffs for the NHL and the NBA are happening, and there isn't a lot of support or buzz for those leagues around here. For many in this area, it is time to put on their Royals Blue or Cardinals Red, and baseball is only the sport that matters right now.

The final four NFL teams head into their respective conference championship games hoping to advance to the Super Bowl. Here are three things to watch for in each of Sunday's games:

The 2013 Major League Baseball Playoffs are here. The season went down to the wire and even had a playoff to decide which team would go to the American League Wild Card Game. Now that the Wild Card games are done and the Divisional Round is here, who are you cheering for to win the 2013 World Series?

Some would say the Kansas City Royals season this year has been a magical one. For the first time since 2003, they have a winning record and they also are in the chase for the second Wild Card spot in the American League with a record of 83 wins and 73 losses.

The first regular season for the CPIFL has come to an end, and there are four teams that have qualified for the playoffs: The Omaha Beef, Wichita Wild, Sioux City Bandits and Salina Bombers.

As you may know, I love the game of hockey and the Detroit Red Wings. This year I made the decision to grow a beard during the playoffs, similar to when players in the NHL grow one until they lose in their round. I joined the beard-a-thon sponsored by Just For Men as a page to post my beard photos as it went from totally shaven to what you see now.

After Tuesday night's unbelievable win for the SFCC Lady Roadrunners, their season will continue Friday in the region semi-finals.  The Roadrunners won Tuesday on a last second three-pointer from Kaci Cason over Mineral Area at Mineral, so now both teams are in the semi's on Friday.

Classes 1,2 and 3A head into district play starting this Saturday.  Sacred Heart, Green Ridge, LaMonte, and Windsor will all play in the same district in Sweet Springs, while Cole Camp, Smithton, Tipton and Stover all play in Russellville.

The NFL Playoffs are here, and once again, Missouri does not have a dog in the hunt.  Neither the Kansas City Chiefs or St. Louis Rams have made the playoffs, so this leaves football fans the chance to put hometown loyalty aside and try and pick a winner.
