For as long as I can remember, I have gone to the Missouri State High School Final Four. This weekend is Classes 1a, 2a and 3a finals. Now that there are five classes in the state, it makes it a little more difficult to go see them all The semi's are now on Thursday, third place games on Friday and the championship games are on Saturday. I will be attending the championship games on Saturday.
Classes 1,2 and 3A head into district play starting this Saturday. Sacred Heart, Green Ridge, LaMonte, and Windsor will all play in the same district in Sweet Springs, while Cole Camp, Smithton, Tipton and Stover all play in Russellville.

In closed session on Monday, January 28, 2013, the Board of Education of the Sedalia #200 School District, hired Mr. Jason Curry to be the Smith-Cotton Jr. High School Principal for the 2013-2014 school year. In addition to hiring Curry, the Sedalia #200 School District, hired Mr. Wade Norton to be the Smith-Cotton High School Principal for the 2013-2014 school year as well.
The W-K Holiday Shootout has become a tradition in this area over the past few years. The tournament started in 2001 by Tom Knight and Darren Pannier as an idea to get local area schools all in one location to play a basketball tournament.
The Kaysinger All Conference Football team for the 2012 season has been announced. Congratulations to the young men who were selected. It was a tremendous season for local high school football. I had fun calling and watching many of these young athletes on the field.
