Sweet Springs Man Injured in Saline County Crash

A Sweet Springs man was injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday in Saline County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2015 Chevy Cruz, driven by 31-year-old Neico D. Silkwood of Sweet Springs, was on Highway 65 at 122nd Trail around noon, when the Cruz traveled into the path of a southbound 2017 Freightliner tractor trailer, driven by 21-year-old Clayton D. Hieronymus of Hughesville.

After impact, the Chevy came to rest in the median, facing southeast. The Freightliner came to rest on the right shoulder, facing south.

Silkwood suffered moderate injuries, and was transported by Saline County EMS to Fitzgibbon Hospital for treatment.

The Freightliner had extensive damage, while the Chevy was totaled.
