Santa Claus For City Council?

Albeit, we're into fall and many of us are seeing all the Christmas shopping items in area stores, as of this writing, Christmas is still 80 days away. I guess Santa has a few extra days to play with so throwing his hat into the political ring may be of no surprise to many around the world.

It's no joke in North Pole, Alaska. (Yes Virginia, there is a North Pole, Alaska...look it up!) According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner newspaper and newsminer.com, the North Pole Clerk's office announced on Thursday that the former North Pole Chamber of Commerce president is one of two candidates who have launched write-in campaigns for City Council, and yes, his, driver's license really does bear his legal name of Santa Claus.

No one filed during the regular period so any one that is to run for the two vacancies will be on a write-in basis. The election is tomorrow, Tuesday October 6.
