I know, you're tired of hearing about it.  I'm tired of writing and talking about it.  But it's here, and it's almost over.

I would never tell you who to vote for. I would never push my political opinions on my listeners or webspace readers.  And we here at the stations certainly don't want to pick a side either.  You've got the decision to make, and we just want to encourage you to face up to it and get out there and vote.

Today, about 60% of eligible voters will vote in the election.  And that's VERY low compared to the rest of the free world.  Of 169 countries with free elections, the U.S. ranks 120th in voter turnout.  There are two reasons why.

One, political science experts say our elections are TOO OFTEN.  With state and local elections, we can vote multiple times a year.  It's not like that in other countries.  Because of that, we feel like our votes are less valuable.

And two . . . we don't FINE people for not voting.  Other DEMOCRACIES like Australia and Argentina have MANDATORY voting with small fines for people who don't.  That makes voter turnout MUCH higher.

I don't want to get fined for not voting - that might be a bit much.  But I do hope you realize how lucky we are to live in a country where we're even asked and encouraged to vote.   Okay, the system isn't perfect, but you can't be a part of the solution if you don't try.

So make sure to vote!

I'll get my sticker,

Behka
