How To Fill In For The Receptionist When You’re Not A Good Receptionist
I talk on the radio, that's my job. And you could debate my skill level on that, admittedly. But at least I know what I'm doing when I'm doing that. But sometimes I have to have other roles here at the station, and I clearly do not always shine at those roles. For example, when the receptionist is out of the office, that means I fill in after my show. I'm a team player, I can do this. I can do my blogging and stuff from the front office, sure. It just means I have to do a bunch of other stuff and it's not as easy to concentrate, I guess.
So anyway, here's how I get through a day doing a job a I'm not good at.
First of all, have your transmitter logs ready so you can remember to check them. Even though that's something a receptionist doesn't do, it's something the Replacement does.
Make sure you have adequate snackage. After all, you're gonna be stuck here all day.
Keep a post it note and a pen nearby so you can write down messages. You're gonna forget. I know you're saying you're not, but you will. Write it down.
Have your earbuds handy and your jamzzzz ready.
Do. Not. Open. The. Laptop.
And most importantly, answer the dang phone! And be nice about it!
Anyway, I hope that I've filled you in and given you a little tip to help your life go a little smoother. And now, if you don't mind, I have to answer the phone.
Receptively yours,
Behka
