Child Safe is a local organization that's a lot like a fire extinguisher: you hope you never need it, but you're thankful it's there.  They help our local kids who are going through some terrible times.  Child Safe needs our help to keep that going.

According to the Child Safe website, Child Safe of Central Missouri, Inc. is a child advocacy center located in Sedalia.  They are committed to serving children who are alleged victims of severe physical or sexual abuse and providing advocacy for their non-offending family members.  Child Safe serves eleven central Missouri counties which include Benton, Carroll, Chariton, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Linn, Morgan, Moniteau, Pettis and Saline.

Child Safe provides forensic interviews, sexual assault medical exam referrals and advocacy services in response to allegations of child sexual abuse. The goal is to limit the number of interviews a child is subjected to by bringing together all disciplines involved (Children’s Division, law enforcement, Juvenile Office, etc.) in a child-friendly setting in order to minimize the trauma to the child.

So be sure to attend the Child Safe of Central Missouri dessert auction. They’ll have it on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m.  at the Broadway Presbyterian Church, 209 West Broadway. They’ll also serve chili and dessert for a free will donation. Proceeds will benefit the Child Safe of Central Missouri. If you need more information or if you want to contribute or donate, call 829-3434.

Sweetly yours,

Behka
