Sedalia Police Reports for March 21, 2024

In the late-night hours of March 16th, Sedalia Police observed a truck stopped at the stop light, headed southbound at the intersection of South Engineer Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard. The truck was stopped almost the entire truck length past the stop line. The truck turned eastbound on Broadway Boulevard, driving over the dashed line and slowly drifted into the outside lane without signaling. Officers initiated at traffic stop at East Broadway Boulevard and South Merriam Avenue. The driver was found to be intoxicated. Dalen Paul Miller, 35, of Smithton, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Miller was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be processed before being released to a sober driver.

Wednesday evening, Officers observed a truck disobey the stop sign located at South Grand Avenue and East 32nd Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, where it was discovered the driver had no operator’s status. Agustin Cano Rodriguez Jr., 33, of Sedalia, was arrested for a charge of Operator’s License Required. Rodriguez was released from the scene with a court summons.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1400 block of South Park Avenue Wednesday night to investigate a report of found property. When Officers arrived, contact was made with Paige Abney, who stated an unknown male subject had left a blue Huffy Rock It bike on her front porch. The bike was brought back to the Police Department, where it was placed into evidence as found property.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of East 10th Street and South Massachusetts Avenue early Sunday morning. Officers had observed a dark colored Chevrolet car travelling eastbound on East Broadway Boulevard, as it crossed over the white line and also failed to stop properly on a stop line. Officers contacted the driver, and smelled the odor of marijuana and the faint odor of intoxicants coming from the car. The driver agreed to perform field sobriety tests, and showed several signs of drug impairment. Officers then informed the suspect she would be placed under arrest. The driver refused to put her hands behind her back, and stiffed her arm up to her chest. Officers had to use force to bring her hands behind her back, and the driver continued to try to pull her hands from the Officer’s grasp. Katelyn Grace Bartlett, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs) and Resisting Arrest. Bartlett was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail. Bond was set at $1500 cash or surety.

On the night of March 15th, Officers observed a silver SUV turn westbound onto West 7th Street from southbound South Kentucky Avenue. The vehicle had expired license plates, and it was also failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. Officers observed the SUV parked on the wrong side of the road and made a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was impaired by drugs. Jacob David Haulcy, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs). Haulcy was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Early Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Howard Street in regards to property that was vandalized. Officers spoke with Jennifer O’Connell in regards to the extent of the damage. A report was completed.

Tuesday evening, Kevin Cooper came to the lobby of the Police Department to turn in found property. The property was found in the area of Highway Y and West 16th Street. There was no information given about the property itself in the report, but the property was placed into evidence.
