Sunday night, Officers responded to the 400 block of East 13th Street in reference to an assault. Officers made contact with the victim, who suffered a minor knife wound to the face. The suspect had fled the scene before Officers arrival, but has been identified. State charges are being requested.


 

Saturday afternoon, Officers took a theft report from Darian Benton. Benton stated a mini bike had been stolen from the 1400 block of South Park Avenue. The bike was stolen between April 19th and the 22nd. There are no suspects at this time.


 

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Family Farm and Home Center, 1400 South Limit Avenue, for a report of trespassing. Officers were familiar with the suspect, and knew she had been trespassed previously from the business. Officers were able to locate the suspect on the north side of the Woods grocery store. It was explained to her that she was under arrest, but she refused to take orders. The suspect drove off in her vehicle. Officers followed her to her home in the 2500 block of Anderson Avenue. Officers again tried to place her under arrest, and she began fighting with Officers. At one point, the suspect began reaching towards her waistband, where a gun was later recovered. The suspect was placed into handcuffs and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Renee M. Fortune, 50, of Sedalia, was booked in at the Jail on three charges of Aggravated Assault in the 3rd Degree*, two counts of Assault in the 1st Degree, Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Sexual Misconduct in the 1st Degree.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 200 block of South Prospect Avenue in reference to a report of harassment Sunday morning. The suspect had already left the scene, and was unable to be located at this time. Charges are being requested through the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.


 

Sunday morning, Officers arrived at the Casey’s General store, 716 West 16th Street, to investigate a report of a Fraudulent Use of a Credit Device. Upon arrival, Officers met with the victim. The victim stated that sometime overnight, his wallet and its contents had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle. The vehicle had been parked in front of his residence in the 1800 block of South Park Avenue. The victim stated he had information that someone had successfully used his Cash App card once, and then had tried to use it again at the Casey’s that morning. The suspect was soon located. Alexander Rhea Logan, 26, of Sedalia was arrested on a felony charge of Receiving Stolen Property, and a misdemeanor charge of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Device. Logan was placed on a 24-hour hold, pending charges.


 

Saturday afternoon, were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a theft report. Officers identified the suspect and placed her under arrest. Jill Rene Slocum, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Stealing. The next morning, Officers conducted a follow up investigation in the 900 block of East 9th Street in reference to a separate theft report. Officers identified Slocum and issued her a summons for another charge of Stealing. The report notes Slocum awaits future court dates.


 

Officers were dispatched to a report of trespassing that occurred in the 300 block of West 7th Street Saturday afternoon. Officers identified the suspect and placed him under arrest. Martavious Keyshawn Thomas, 33, Homeless, was transported to the Pettis County Jail on charges of Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Thomas was transported to the Pettis County Jail without incident.


 

Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near West 16th Street and South Warren Avenue because it had an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle was discovered to have two active Failure to Appear warrants for their arrest from Pettis County. The first was issued by citation in January of 2023 on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The suspect did not appear in court, and an FTA warrant was issued in October of 2023, and again in February 2024. The other warrant was issued in June of 2023 on charges of Failure to Drive on the Right Half of the Roadway and Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. The FTA was issued in February 2024. Dillon Lee James Hoover, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested for his two warrants and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a bond of $3,000 cash or surety.


 

Early Friday morning, Officers were called to the 800 block of South Missouri Avenue in regards to a call of a subject attempting to leap off the roof. Upon arrival, Officers met with two subjects. The male advised the female had been attempting to harm him and damage property. Officers were able to view video that had been taken during the incident, with the suspect chasing the male up the stairs with a knife, following him and cornering him. The suspect swung the knife (on the video) around in a space less than five feet part, and began to stab objects around her. In the video, the suspect stabbed the bed several times, and then started stabbing the wall. The suspect grabbed a metal pipe and threw it at the male, hitting him in the leg. The male told Officers he had undergone surgery not that long ago on his leg, and the suspect knew that, still throwing the pipe. The suspect dropped the knife, and the male grabbed her and held her, trying to calm her down. She then started to throw phones and random items down the stairs and around the house. When Officers arrived on scene, they viewed the video and determined the suspect to be the primary aggressor. Katie Marie Fischer, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Armed Criminal Action, felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree**. Bond was set at $7500 cash or surety.

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the 700 block of East 24th Street in reference to an attempted suicide. Officers arrived, and were able to secure the subject. Medical treatment was provided by PCAD, and the subject was transported.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the Woods East Grocery Store, 701 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a counterfeit bill. A subject attempted to use a counterfeit bill to pay for items at the store. The clerk realized it was counterfeit bill, and was able to collect proper payment of the items. The counterfeit bill was placed into evidence, and a report was made for documentation purposes. No charges are being requested at this time.


 

There were several separate, unrelated arrests for shoplifting that took place over the weekend at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. Saturday evening, Wraymond J. Merriott Jr., 55, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Merriott was issued a summons and released on scene. Natasha R. Hicks, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested on Friday afternoon on a charge of Shoplifting. Friday afternoon, Cathleen M. Sackett, 69, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the store to investigate a past theft report, where the suspect came in and stole approximately $97.06 worth of merchandise before leaving without paying. Friday afternoon, Christopher N. Steck, 33, of Sedalia, was also arrested for a charge of Shoplifting. Saturday morning, Kathleen Blue reported she had received $60 back from cash register, but forgot to take it. Another subject then stole the money from the register and did not attempt to turn it in.


 

Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store in reference to a female subject that seemed intoxicated. The female was refusing to get out of the reporting party’s vehicle. Officers made contact with the suspect, and it determined a fit for conferment check was needed before she could be taken into custody due to her level of intoxication. Cindy K. Blacklock, 31, Homeless, was placed into protective custody. Blacklock was transported to the BRHC to be released to medical staff.


 

On the afternoon of April 15th, a subject came to the Police Station lobby to report found property. The property was found in the 900 block of South Limit Avenue. Officers gathered information for a report.


 

Officers conducted a vehicle stop at West 16th Street and South Moniteau Avenue Saturday night. Officers made contact with the driver, checked his information with Dispatch, and confirmed he had a revoked driving status. Jose Rodriguez Talabera, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Suspended. Talabera was issued a citation with a court date and released from the scene.


 

Friday night, Officers spoke with a subject in the lobby of the Police Department in regards to a report of Harassment. The subject gave details related to an incident they were concerned about. Charges were not requested; however, a report was generated for documentation purposes.


 

Sedalia Police took a report from David Todd Saturday afternoon of theft. Todd stated a motorcycle had been stolen from the Autozone store, 2601 West Broadway Boulevard. The motor cycle was stolen between April 17th and April 20th, from the parking lot. There are no suspects at this time.


 

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Car Mart lot, 3303 South Limit Avenue, regarding a case of found property. Officers gathered information for a report.


 

Officers took a report of a stolen license plate from Peggy Wiser Balch in the 500 block of East 11th Street. Balch stated their license plate went missing on April 17th, but they did not notice it was gone until the 20th. There are no suspects at this time.
Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Probation and Parole Office, 205 Thompson Road, in reference to a warrant check. A subject the business was found to have an active Probation and Parole warrant for Probation Violation on charges of felony Property Damage in the 1st Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree. Sarah E. Gerloff, 26, of Sedalia was arrested for her warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Gerloff was issued a bond of $25,000 cash or surety***.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to Albright Court for a report of a verbal domestic disturbance. Officers gathered information for a report.


 

Saturday afternoon, Officers took a theft report from Lecia M. Parnell. Parnell stated a Bluetooth speaker had been stolen from the 200 block of South Moniteau Avenue.


 

On the morning of April 2nd, Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a reported trespassing. Officers gathered information for a report.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Prime Time, 1320 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a theft report. An employee said a subject came into the store and stole a Gatorade drink, and then left. The suspect was located and arrested. Susan A. Sweeney, 45, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Sweeney was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of East 3rd Street and South Massachusetts Avenue on a vehicle because it had defective equipment. Officers identified the driver, and found his privileges were suspended. Joseph James Sullivan, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested on charge of Driving While Suspended and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Bond amount was to be determined.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 500 block of East 11th Street to investigate a report of a missing person. Upon arrival, Officers met with the caller, who stated that no one in her family has heard from her sister. They are concerned for her well-being. It is unknown exactly where the missing female was last seen for sure. She has been entered in as a missing person.


 

On the afternoon of April 15th, Wesley Ditzfeld came to the lobby of the Police Station to report a theft. Ditzfeld stated tools of his were stolen.


 

Sedalia Police Patrol Officers and Pettis County Deputies responded to the area of W 18th St and S Sneed Av Saturday afternoon for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival Officers located a male victim, Felix Cooley, 21, near the intersection suffering from a gunshot wound. Cooley was taken by helicopter to a Missouri Medical Center for treatment. Detectives in the Criminal Investigations Bureau were called in to process the scene and begin investigations. Two subjects were detained at the scene, one was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold. Davonta M. Hernton, 20 years old, of Sedalia, is charged with Assault in the 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Armed Criminal Action. *The report notes the all the Assault charges are against Law Enforcement Officers. *565.083. Assault of a law enforcement officer, corrections officer, emergency personnel, highway worker, utility worker, cable worker, or probation and parole officer in the third degree, definition, penalty. — 1. A person commits the crime of assault of a law enforcement officer, corrections officer, emergency personnel, highway worker in a construction zone or work zone, utility worker, cable worker, or probation and parole officer in the third degree if:
(1) Such person recklessly causes physical injury to a law enforcement officer, corrections officer, emergency personnel, highway worker in a construction zone or work zone, utility worker, cable worker, or probation and parole officer;
(2) Such person purposely places a law enforcement officer, corrections officer, emergency personnel, highway worker in a construction zone or work zone, utility worker, cable worker, or probation and parole officer in apprehension of immediate physical injury;
(3) Such person knowingly causes or attempts to cause physical contact with a law enforcement officer, corrections officer, emergency personnel, highway worker in a construction zone or work zone, utility worker, cable worker, or probation and parole officer without the consent of the law enforcement officer, corrections officer, emergency personnel, highway worker in a construction zone or work zone, utility worker, cable worker, or probation and parole officer.

**In Casenet 24PT-CR00586, Fischer is charged only with felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon and misdemeanor Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree (1st or 2nd Offense) (1) (5). 565.076. Domestic assault in the fourth degree, penalty. — 1. A person commits the offense of domestic assault in the fourth degree if the act involves a domestic victim, as the term "domestic victim" is defined under section 565.002, and:
(1) The person attempts to cause or recklessly causes physical injury, physical pain, or illness to such domestic victim;
(2) With criminal negligence the person causes physical injury to such domestic victim by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument;
(3) The person purposely places such domestic victim in apprehension of immediate physical injury by any means;
(4) The person recklessly engages in conduct which creates a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury to such domestic victim;
(5) The person knowingly causes physical contact with such domestic victim knowing he or she will regard the contact as offensive; or
(6) The person knowingly attempts to cause or causes the isolation of such domestic victim by unreasonably and substantially restricting or limiting his or her access to other persons, telecommunication devices or transportation for the purpose of isolation.

*** In the narrative of the report, the Officer had a typo. The bond amount was written at $250,000. Casenet #21PT-CR00623-01 confirms the amount to be $25,000.
