It seems long ago since I walked across the stage at the Knob Noster High School in 1996 and Central Missouri State University (now University of Central Missouri) in 2000. One thing that has not changed is that it is an important time in life, it is a passage from your youth to your future. What you do with the knowledge you've learned is up to you. You can go to college, you can join the military, go to tech school or go straight into the work force or spend a year or two finding yourself. Whatever the path is enjoy the weekend. There is always songs you'll remember and I thought I'd give you my Top 5 Graduation Songs that I love so much and is my gift to you. Congrats to the Class of 2015.

5. I grew up on a healthy dose of watching 'Friends' and I think the theme song captures the spirit of hanging out with your friends and remembering those friendships forever.

4. A song that is more to today's generation, but catches the meaning of something that was taught to me by many, but drilled into me by Mrs. Altis in Knob Noster and that was to seize the day, carpe diem. This song reminded me of that mantra.

3. This one could have easily been #1, but I reserve that for another one. I remember playing this song when I was the night host and named Orbit. I had request after request for Vitamin C. Whatever happened to her? Last I heard, she was the Vice President of Nickelodeon, not kidding about that either.

2. ok this one has to be on the list and comes at #2, because you're going to hear it at every and I mean every graduation. Pomp & Circumstance.

1. This is a sentimental favorite of mine, because quite frankly it takes me back to around when I graduated. I still remember it was used in our Senior video. Wish I still had a copy of that video somewhere.
I still can't believe we have to say Green Day is in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, but this one certainly helped them get there.

I do have one last honorable mention pick. It is one that each senior heard in the Knob Noster School District if you walked through the social studies class on your last day. Mr. Altis passed on in 2014 and this song still resonates through me and I hope Bob Dylan's words take a hold of you. This area is lucky to be blessed with great teachers and I hope you remember them, especially the ones that impacted you most and in a few years you may recognize the importance of some of the ones that you didn't think impacted you. Trust me, they will.
