Teams of three will compete for CASH prizes and the title of Sedalia's Sportsman Champion, at The Sedalia Sportsman Challenge presented by Warsaw Archery. We will start registration at 7am on September 6 at the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club.

Usually around this time of year you have to search for something cool to do.  Well, something warm to do that's fun, I guess I should say.  It's so cold out that nobody really wants to spend a huge amount of time outside.  That's why we've got the huge Cabin Fever Sports Show, and it's getting closer by the day.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a prescribed burn workshop 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Trails West Regional Library, 432 N. Holden St. in Warrensburg.

Over 100,00 less deer were killed in 2013 firearm seasons compared to 2012. In 2012, a grand total of 311,304 were killed in Missouri. In 2013, the total plummeted to just 200,279. These totals are a combination of all the Missouri firearm season.

Youth deer season is finally here.  Make sure to come on out to Auto Glass Express on West 50 Hwy this Saturday (Nov. 2) for lunch during youth deer hunting. We're having a fish fry with all the fixins and door prizes for the kids.

Well, it's getting dry: wet spring, dry summer.  Man, do we need some rain.  I sprained my ankle in a crack in my backyard it was so big.  Anyway, that's summer in Missouri.

This week has been great, a little hot, but what the heck. We need some rain, it's getting dry and with no rain in sight for another week, the sprinklers are in full operation and the farmers are praying for rain.

Young hunters and fisherman are invited to the J.A.K.E.S. event in Warrensburg. J.A.K.E.S. (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) is an outdoor program designed to help youth sharpen their outdoors skills.

Okay, cool temps and moisture are better than last year at this time and the food plots are looking good.  We're getting ready to put out cameras and try some Bigtine.  They've got it at Rusty Toad Archery in 40 lb. bags for less than $20.  I can't wait!

I've started my blog posts with the weather every day for the last two months.  I thought the crazy weather changes were over and done with.  I can deal with a 15-20 degree temperature change, this IS Missouri.  But come on, from the 70s to the 30s?  This is just ridiculous.
