CLINTON—State Fair Community College-Clinton and members of the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting at noon Jan. 15 to celebrate the expansion of its site at the Truman Regional Education Center (TREC), 1701 N. Second St.

The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
The expansion adds an estimated 7,000 square feet of instructional and testing space including five classrooms, laboratory space, a testing center, a commons area, and four additional offices. Construction began in August 2014. The TREC site opened in January 2010 with 281 students enrolled.
Site Director Dara Bigler said she is excited to see the expansion bring additional opportunities to the communities served by the SFCC-Clinton location.
“Our mission has always been about serving students, meeting them wherever they are and helping them reach their educational goals,” she said. “SFCC-Clinton serves an average of 350 students.”
SFCC President Dr. Joanna Anderson echoed her excitement about the expansion.
“The remodeling of the remaining upper level of the TREC facility is beautiful and provides much-needed additional space for academic programs and services,” said Anderson. “We greatly appreciate the support and hard work of the many individuals involved in making this expansion a reality.
“The SFCC-Clinton campus offers an excellent learning environment for A+ students, nontraditional students and anyone looking to get a college education at a low cost. We’re proud to bring more opportunities to the wonderful people of Clinton and the surrounding areas.”
