The State Fair Community College Theatre Arts program will present nine performances of Dracula in October.

Professor Van Helsing and his brave comrades must hunt down and destroy the profoundly evil Count Dracula. However, the count is resourceful, employing superhuman strength, psychic powers, and shape-changing to confound and frustrate his antagonists. Culminating in a wild and shocking confrontation between the King of Vampires and his pursuers, this adaptation is an action-packed, blood-soaked retelling of Bram Stoker's classic tale of horror.

"All the kids, they have been working so hard," said Tiffany Bryant with the State Fair Community College Box Office. "Our opening night is October 3. We run October 3, 4, 5, 11, and 13, and those are 7:30 events. Then October 6 and 12 we have midnight premieres. October 13 is our dinner theater. That starts at 6:30 for our meal. October 14 is our matinée, on Sunday, and it starts at 2 p.m. So there are nine performances, this is a two week event."

Bryant says there are more performances for Dracula scheduled than a normal SFCC production due to limited seating available at the theater. "We are over in the Thompson O’Sullivan Studio Theatre, which is over in Yeater. It's the black box theater. It's the theater in the round, and there are only 90 seats in that theater, so it's very intimate. It's first come, first serve."

Running time is expected to be just over two hours, with a 15 minute intermission. Tickets are $6 for regular performances. Dinner theater tickets are $16. SFCC students and employees receive free admission, and cost of the dinner theater for them is $10. Special group rates are available for both regular performances and dinner theater. Anyone 60 or older may reserve free tickets for the October 12 matinée. Tickets can be purchased online, or by calling the State Fair Community College Box Office at 660-530-5814.
