Here's a look at some of the events going on this weekend in our area. 

The Salvation Army of Sedalia will host a community dinner during the month of March. 

The  community dinner and basket auction will be hosted at The Salvation Army at 1200 East Broadway on March 14.  The dinner is a cost of $3, and several baskets will be available in a silent auction.  Call (660) 826-5262 for more information.

Senior Parents are selling tickets to the Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Frys.

The dates of the event are March 14, March 28, and April 11.  Tickets are only $9.50/adult and $5.00/children ages 5-10.  Kids under 5 eat free with a paid adult. The menu includes deep fried and baked fish, fried potato chips and wedges, mac & cheese, green beans, baked beans, coleslaw, and cornbread!  Homemade desserts are available for donation! Tickets available at Sacred Heart School and Church Rectory.

World League Wrestling is coming to Otterville.

It’ll be held in the Missouri High School Gym on March 14.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the bell time is 7:00 p.m.  The event features Harley Race and Otterville High School Math teacher John Rockhold, along with many other pro wrestlers.  For tickets and more information, go to Woods Supermarket in Sedalia,  Mini Mart in Otterville, or Dave’s Country Market in Tipton.

The Sedalia Senior Center will have a St Patty’s Day Potluck Dance. 

It’ll be held on March 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  at the Liberty Park Convention Hall, 1500 West 3rd street. There's a $5 door cover, bring a dish to pass.  There will be music provided by John Cecilia and The Country Ordaras.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary 2591 Celebrates St Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 15.  

They’ll start with a cake walk a the VFW Hall, and cake walks will start at 10:00 a.m.  Minimum 10 per walk.  The Parade starts with a line up at 7th and Ohio at 10:30 a.m.  All entries are welcome – bands, floats, cars, walkers.  Get your entry form in by March 10.  Special entry is available for kids 14 and under for bikes, scooters, pedal cars, etc (no entry form needed).  Call Vera at 660-641-2232 or the post at 826-4543.  They’ll also have Irish Stew and Chili at the hall after the parade (donations are appreciated), along with  more cake walks, raffles and fun for all.  The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will have their fundraising auction between 12 and 12:30 p.m. with Col Glen Glidewell as auctioneer.

The Smithton Senior Class of 2014 will have a Scrapbooking and Crafters Crop fundraiser.

It’ll be held on March 15 at the Smithton School Gym from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  The cost is $25 by March 1 and $30 after. Lunch, dinner and door prize for everyone.  The proceeds will go to the Smithton Senior Class of 2014 for their after graduation party. For more information please contact Julie at 660-281-3962.

There will be a bake sale to support funding for the upcoming MS Walk.

The actual walk is Saturday April 26th in Marshall, MO at Indian Foothills Park. There are a couple of fundraising events here in Sedalia to raise money for this great cause. On Saturday March 15th we will be having a bake sale in front of JCPenney from 10-2pm. 100% of profits will be donated. We are also going to be having a garage sale in April where 100% of profits will be donated.

The 16th Annual Ham and Bean Dinner Fundraiser to benefit Meals on Wheels will be on Saturday, March 15. 

It’ll take place at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3700 West Broadway from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Tickets for adults are $5, children 6-12 eat for $2, and under six are free.  Tickets may be purchased at the door and all proceeds will be matched by Thrivent.

 Eldorado UMC will have a Wild Game and Exotic Foods Supper.

It’ll be on March 15 at the Missouri Electric Cooperative building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds for a free will donation. The proceeds will go to the Eldorado church. There will be food for the brave and the not so brave.  There will be mountain oysters, alligator, pheasant, chicken, rabbit, raccoon, goose, frog legs, venison, fish, groundhog, fried green tomatoes, cole slaw, baked beans, apple cobbler, peach cobbler, cherry cobbler dinner rolls and deep fried oreos.  There will be plenty of seating and country music for entertainment.  If you have questions, call Ken Vickrey at 660-281-2978 or Glenda Dethloff at 816-678-6114.

There will be a benefit dinner and live auction for Jessica Pummill Kreisel on Saturday March 15.

The event will begin on the 15th at 5:00 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Adult tickets are $8; children aged 6-12 eat for $5.  They’ll serve fish, pork, potatoes, green beans, baked beans, fruit and dessert.  It’ll be held at the Northwest High School.

The Community is invited to Calvary Episcopal Church’s Spud Luncheon.

The Annual Spud Luncheon will be at 713 South Ohio Avenue on Sunday, March 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The meal will consist of a baked potato and a choice of toppings, dessert and a drink for a free will offering.  Come, bring your family and friends and of course a hearty appetite.  The Spud Luncheon is being hosted by the Mary Polk New Episcopal Women’s Society.  100% of the proceeds will go to Meals on Wheels.

The Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus will perform at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church. 

The choir,  directed and conducted by Noel Fulkerson with Cliff Jones as his Assistant Direcor, will be conducting a concert at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 407 S. Main Street, Concordia, MO, on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 3:00 PM.  Accompanists are Brenda Yeates and Kathy Ford.  A freewill donation will be collected to assist the St. Paul’s Lutheran Scholarship Fund.
