There will be a 5k run/walk to help support Camp Sacajawea.

It’ll be held on Saturday, August 23 at the Upper Midway of the Mathewson Building.  7:30 a.m. registration and the race starts at 8:30 a.m.  Participants must wear some type of eye protection. Cost is $30 each or $25 family discount for three or more members, and on the race, registration fee goes up to $35.

The First Christian Church will host a CrossWalk Run 5k.

It’ll take place on Saturday, August 23.  Run starts at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot at the First Christian Church, and goes through Liberty Park.  Registration fee is $15.  Register at the Church or online at CrossWalkRun5K.First4God.com.

The State Fair FFA Alumni Tractor Pull will be on Saturday, August 23. 

It’ll be held at the La Monte R-IV school with weigh in beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Pull begins at 3:00 p.m.  Free Admission.  Brush pullers of Mo Rules and Classes, full concessions available.  For information, call 660-620-1723.

Golf season is in full swing and the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri is hoping area golfers will spend a little time on the links for a good cause.

Putting “Fore” the Kids will take place at the beautiful Triple Creek Golf Course in Cole Camp August 23 and team submissions are now being accepted. The four-person scramble will feature games and raffles, cash prizes and lunch.  Entry fees are $65 per person or $260 for a team of four. UCM Athletics and Mules football will kick off the 2014-15 Mo's Maniacs membership drive by hosting the inaugural Family Fun Day this Saturday, August 23, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field on the UCM campus.

The general public is invited to attend the event that begins at 10 a.m. with a scrimmage by the 2014 Mules football team. Following the scrimmage, all fans are invited to meet the team and coaching staff on the field where the kids can toss the football around with Mules players. There will activities for the kids throughout the morning, including inflatable games, provided by the Elliott Student Union and UCM concessions by Sodexo will be on hand to offer dollar hot dogs and other concessions products. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to be the first to sign up for Mo's Maniacs, the offical youth booster club of UCM athletics. Mo's Maniacs is sponsored by DQ Grill-n-Chill/Orange Julius of Warrensburg.  A basic membership to Mo's Maniacs is $10 and includes free admission to all regular season Mules and Jennies home athletic events, a free drink at each regular season home athletic event courtesy of UCM Concessions by Sodexo, plus many other free items. Premium memberships are $15 or $20 and include a Mo's Maniacs t-shirt, and/or tote bag.

A special Mo's Maniacs registration event will be held on Monday, August 25 at DQ Grill-n-Chill/Orange Julius at the corner of Burkarth Rd. and Business 50 Hwy from 6:30-8 p.m. Mo Mule and Curly from DQ will be on hand.

The Sedalia Masonic Lodge # 236 is holding a barbecue fundraiser.

The sale will be held on Saturday, August 23 at Bings West at 1400 South Limit from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Baby back ribs will be sold by the slab, slow cooked on site and ready for take out.

It’s a Green Thing:  Healthy Living Expo is coming to Warrensburg.

It’ll take place at Northwest Pettis R-V High School, 16215 Hwy H in Hughesville. Free Parking-Free Will Donation, Concession Stand & Other Food Items, and  Antique Tractors on Display. Drawing for prizes from Vendors every hour!

The Ward Memorial Baptist Church will have their Laymen’s Annual Fish Fry.

It’ll take place at the church, on the corner of East Pettis and North Osage on Saturday, August 23 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  They’ll have fried catfish, spaghetti, coleslaw and a home made dessert for a cost of $8.

The Hughesville Fire Department hosts their annual Hog Supper.

They’ll be serving Whole Hog and Fried Fish.  It’ll be held on Saturday, August 23 from 5:00 p.m. on at the Fire Station, 206 Cravens Street in Hughesville. There will be a silent auction starting at 5:00 p.m. with live entertainment.  For more information, call 826-6885.

The La Monte United Methodist Church will host an Ice Cream Social.

It'll take place on Sunday, August 24 at 5:00 p.m.  Free will donations will be taken, with proceeds to benefit the Imagine No Malaria fund.  For more information, contact the church at 660-347-5557.
