This morning, Pettis County Sheriff’s Detectives and the Pettis County Coroner are conducting an investigation surrounding the death of a Sedalia woman that occurred at a residence just north  of Sedalia’s western city limits last evening.

At 8:26 p.m. Tuesday evening, deputies were dispatched to a report of gunshots being heard in the vicinity of the Western View Estates Trailer Park on Oak Grove Lane. Deputies arrived within minutes and checked the area but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Almost two hours later at 10:18 p.m., a call was received of a person with gunshot wounds at a residence in the trailer park. Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Pettis County Ambulance District and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper.

Deputies worked throughout the night and remained on the scene this morning as the investigation continues.

UPDATE: The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased subject as Cassandra White, 21, of Sedalia.
