The annual Veteran's Day ceremony in Sedalia was held at the Pettis County Courthouse at 11 o'clock this morning.

11 AM represents when the end of World War I happened on the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month, in 1918.

Colonel Cunningham, commander of the JROTC  at Smith-Cotton talked about two Medal of Honor Winners who represent the millions of soldiers that proudly have served our country.

The traditional laying of the wreaths took place with the participation of various members of Veteran's organizations. Joe Cochran, Commander of the American Legion Post 642 and Angie Coffee, President of the Ladies Auxilliary of the American Legion 642 placed the wreath down for World War 1; Larry Reven, Commander of VFW Post 2591and Ladies Auxiliary President Kathy Wright placed the wreath for World War 2; Don Barbour of Voiture 33 of the 40/8 and his wife, Carolyn placed the wreath for the Korean War; Jim Gartner and his wife, Mickie placed the wreath down for Vietnam; Cindy Doyal placed the wreath down for all other conflicts and Barry Walters placed a wreath down for the dogs who have proudly served.

Paul Bennett of the American Legion Post 642 served as the Master of Ceremonies with patriotic songs performed by the Smith-Cotton Show Choir.

Sedalia Mayor Stephen Galliher and County Commissioner David Dick also welcomed those in attendance and showed appreciation for the Veterans of this area.
