A press release from the City of Sedalia says that representatives of the organizations participating in the project will be there to talk about the project. The dedication ceremony begins at 12:00 p.m.

Recently, the mini-park has become home to 77 trees, which have been provided
by KCP&L. Project Coordinator John Meehan says, "the planting of the trees is only the beginning of an on-going effort by a committed group of community organizations to expand the offerings at the mini-park and provide visitors to Sedalia with a shaded area to take a break and enjoy the community."

Future plans for the mini-park include a restroom facility with solar lighting, a play area, a hitching post area for horses, and bicycle racks for cyclists on the Katy Trail.

The press release indicates the project was made possible by support from the Sedalia Lions Club, Sedalia Rotary Club, Missouri State Fair, Missouri Department of Natural Resources and their Division of State Parks, Katy Trails, Inc., KCP&L, the Sedalia Democrat, and the City of Sedalia and its’ Tree Board.

Part of the Arbor Day Celebration includes the City’s Tree Board and City staff distributing trees to local businesses, which are provided by the MDC.

For 2018, trees are being provided to Interstate Studio and Publishing, Maxion Wheels, Waterloo Industries Inc. and Bothwell Regional Hospital. The City says that approximately 1,000 seedlings will be distributed.
