Sedalia JROTC Honors Veterans with Breakfast Ceremony [INTERVIEW]

A big holiday is coming up that means a lot to many of us here in the Mid-Missouri Area. With Whiteman Air Force base being so close, and so many of our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers and friends being active military or a veteran, everyone is affected in some way.  And our local young people want to be sure that that day is kept sacred and thankful. I'm talking about Veteran's Day, of course. The Smith-Cotton High School JROTC  will host a Veterans Day breakfast and ceremony the morning of Nov. 11 at Smith-Cotton High School to honor all veterans and thank them for their service. The ceremony is sent by video to all schools in the district.

They'd like to get the word out so they can have a large number of veterans present to honor them for their service. I got to talk with Aurora Rafael, Kendall Ott, and Rachael DeMent with the JROTC about how you can get involved and what our veterans can expect.

Breakfast will start at 8:00 am, with the ceremony to begin at 9:35 am.  During the ceremony, each service will be recognized by the playing of the respective Service Hymn.  While the Service Hymn is played, all veterans who served to stand will be asked to stand and be recognized. All veterans and their spouse or guest are invited to attend.  In order to properly plan for the breakfast and seating, attendees should RSVP to the JROTC office at 660-851-5317.

Get involved today, whether you're a veteran, a family member, or just someone wanting to say thank you. While you're there, you can congratulate the Smith-Cotton JROTC Raider Team who competed in Molena, Georgia for the National Championship title and won for the fourth year.
