Pettis County Escapee Steals Cop Car in OK, Manhunt Continues

A manhunt is underway in Oklahoma for a suspect who escaped from the Pettis County Jail earlier this week.

According to Heavener, OK Police Chief Ty Armstrong, 30-year old Travis Lee Davis was arrested in Oklahoma early Wednesday morning at a convenience store, after a woman had called police to report that she was the victim of a kidnapping.

According to KMBC, the woman told police the man who kidnapped her was sleeping in his car in the parking lot. Davis reportedly ran but police were able to capture him.

Davis was reportedly put in the back of the police car, behind a cage. He was handcuffed with his hands behind his back.

KMBC says officers then stood outside their vehicle, interviewing the kidnap victim. The car was running, but the key fob was with the officers at the time.

Davis reportedly was able to open the window and climb into the driver's seat, and take off, driving about a 1.5 miles until the car crashed into a tree. Authorities say Davis may have gotten onto a passing train.

Davis was reported missing from his cell block late Sunday night in the Pettis County Jail.

He was being held on $110,000 bond for various charges, including kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a minor, domestic assault, resisting arrest and parole violation.

Davis is considered dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information about Davis's whereabouts should contact law enforcement.
