The world of comic books is full of debates as to who is the strongest, the fastest, the toughest or just the plain best, but it's often hard to come to a decisive idea about who is the greatest in their field. In MVP, we want to know which character stands head and shoulders above their peers and contemporaries, and we need your help to do it.

In this debut edition of MVP, we're going right back to the Golden Age of comic books to determine which heroine from the era reigns supreme. Way back when, the comics industry was still discovering exactly what it was and could be, so we've compiled a list full of the weirdest and coolest heroes from that age --- but only your vote can help us determine which Golden Age heroine was the best.

The front-runner for this poll has to be Wonder Woman, as no other character in the field can claim to be as instantly iconic as Diana of Themyscira. Your eyes might be drawn to Black Widow on our list, but keep in mind that this is the original Widow --- named Claire Voyant, and an awesome character in her own right --- not Natasha Romanoff.

There are a few dark horse candidates in the poll, including personal favorite the Red Tornado. This isn't the robot that likes to cry; this is the tough as nails housewife who put an upside-down saucepan on her head and went on the streets looking for trouble.

Our list also contains two Miss Americas, one from Marvel and one from DC, which actually predate both companies. Joan Dale was a Quality Comics character, while Madeline Joyce was introduced by Timely a couple of years later. The Golden Age was also a great time for spooky scary heroines such as Fantomah and Lady Satan, something the industry would quickly turn away from after the end of the war.

Let us know who you think gets the top spot for the best Golden Age heroine below, and we’ll be back in a few weeks with a countdown of their top ten. You can vote for up three selections in the poll!
