Man Who Led Officers On Three High-speed Chases Arrested

After leading law enforcement on three separate car chases, a man was arrested on Friday.
According to Sedalia Police 43-year-old Daniel Edward Howard led officers on a high-speed chase on Feb. 25 after police were called to the 300 block of E. 16th on suspicious activity. The chase was terminated at the city limits.

Then on Friday night around 10:25 p.m. March 15, the suspect was identified after an officer attempted a car stop at 16th and Washington for improper registration. The vehicle failed to yield and accelerated from the scene at a high rate of speed.

Pettis County deputies were notified of the SPD's pursuit that led to Route U south of Sedalia. Deputies later located the vehicle near Pleasant Hill and McGee. An attempt to conduct a car stop were unsuccessful and the vehicle once again sped away.

The chase continued to Route U and Anderson School Road, where Stop Sticks were deployed by deputies. The vehicle drove over the stop sticks, deflated all four ties and the driver continued traveling south on U. Part of his vehicle were falling off, according to the report, and the vehicle finally came to a stop at Route U and Walnut School Road.

The driver was then identified as Daniel Howard and his passenger was identified as Erik M. Elkins.

Howard was charged with driving while revoked and resisting arrest, while Elkins was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Deputies were assisted by the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force, it was noted.
