Leeton Lions Club Helps Young Girl with Third Lung Transplant [INTERVIEW]

For over 50 years, the Leeton Lions Club has invested thousands of volunteer hours and been the driving force behind hundreds of community projects. The Leeton Lions Club strives to better the community of Leeton through service activities, youth sports programs, support of Lions International projects. They often work with small children, helping them with needs that may fall through the cracks of normal charity relief.   They've also worked to help beautify their neighborhood, like working on things like building a shelter house at the Leeton City Park, replacing some street signs, and keeping up the softball and baseball fields.  They also try to help in projects that just come along, in any way they can.  That's where they've come for our help with this 5k run/walk.  This is LeAnn Binder (she's the one on the right).

She's a normal teenager from Leeton - she likes the Pittsburgh Steelers, punk music, reading vampire books, all the stuff you're used to hearing from a kid her age. But she's also getting ready to undergo her third lung transplant. That's where things get a little complicated, and that's where the Leeton Lions Club is stepping in to help.  They're planning a fundraising 5k Run and Walk. I got to talk with Terry Elwell of the Lions about their walk and run and how you can help them help kids like LeeAnn.

Make sure you head down to Grinstead Park on October 4 for the 5k Walk and Run. They'll begin registration at 7:30 a.m. at the park and the 5k start is at 8:00 a.m. Cost is $15 a person, $12 per person for groups of 10 or more.
