A suspect in a physical altercation was arrested after leading Pettis County deputies on a short high-speed pursuit in Sedalia on Tuesday evening.

According to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office, a Mercury driven by David S. Jasper stopped in the 1100 block of E. 15th Street after it plowed through support beams on a deck at his residence. The pursuit initially reached speeds of 80 miles per hour on Broadway before the crash at 15th and Summit.

Jasper was a suspect in a physical altercation and a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Jasper's vehicle around 7:45 p.m. when he led him on a pursuit through the streets of east Sedalia. Sedalia Police assisted with the pursuit.

Jasper was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold, pending the filing of formal charges for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, resisting arrest, driving while suspended, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident, possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
