Update:  This post has been updated to reflect the fact that Jammin' Nuggets Music is holding another opportunity for people to come out to the store and hear Greenday's new record "Saviors" on Wednesday night, January 17, 2024, at 6:30 PM. Full disclosure, the author attended the listening party at Jammin' Nuggets on Saturday, January 13, and was so taken by the record he pre-ordered a copy for himself. The only change from the original post is the listening party day, date, and time.

Greenday is getting set to drop a new album on January 19, 2024. However, you can hear it first here in Sedalia this Wednesday, January 17.

The new album is called "Saviors" and hardcore Greenday fans have probably heard some of the singles like: "The American Dream Is Killing Me". "Look Ma, No Brains!", "One Eyed Bastard", and "Dilemma". However, that leaves at least 11 songs that hardcore fans haven't heard.

Not to mention, if you're not as plugged into the music scene as you'd like to be there's a good chance you didn't even know they had a new record coming out. You can count me among that group, so I'll be going into Saturday's listening party at Jammin' Nuggets Music completely in the dark about what the new record sounds like.

What's neat about these listening parties is they're supported by the artists and those who show up usually have an opportunity to walk away with some pretty good goodies the artist provides in addition to hanging out with other fans and hearing the album front to back, or first track to last, depending on the format provided to the record store.

In the case of the Greenday "Saviors" listening party, there will be exclusive posters, lyric books, pins, T-shirts, and more. I would expect Jammin' Nuggets to decide what's put out for people to pick up while supplies last, and what they'll raffle off based on how much they get of each item.

The listening party is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 6:30 PM CST. Jammin' Nuggets Music is located at 115 S. Ohio here in Sedalia. Jammin' Nuggets is Sedalia's old-school independent record store. They've hosted listening parties for new albums from Gretta Van Fleet, Duran Duran, The Black Pumas, and Chris Stapleton. They will also be hosting the inaugural Mid-Mo Record show at Smith-Cotton Junior High School on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Greenday will be hitting the road this summer on The Saviors Tour celebrating 30 years of their album "Dookie", and 20 years of their album "American Idiot".

The tour will play St. Louis at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on Thursday, August 15. And Azura Amphitheatre (formerly Sandstone) in Kansas City on Tuesday, August 20.  Rancid and The Linda Lindas will be providing support for these shows.

They will also be playing Wrigley Field in Chicago before their Missouri shows on Tuesday, August 13. This show will not only feature Rancid and The Linda Lindas but will feature one of Chicago's favorite bands The Smashing Pumpkins.
