People here in Sedalia are definitely getting ready for Halloween.  I think I've heard of at least six or seven different things going on to celebrate this fall.  Well now  there's something brand new coming up, and even better: it's for a charity we all can get some support going for.

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease, the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.

I think most everyone in our community either knows someone or has known someone affected by the disease.  Whether it's your neighbor, your grandparent, someone you work with or even someone you go to church with, it's easy to make this cause very personal.

New this year: there will be a haunted maze at the American Legion Building.  It’ll be open on Oct. 25-27 at the AL Building, 2016 West Main Street from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. I got to talk to Christen Twenter and Megan Farnham, who are with Sylvia G Thompson, organizing it to find out what to expect!

The cost is $3 a person, and children will be given goodie bags while supplies last.  This is sponsored by the Sylvia G Thompson Residence Center, and the proceeds will go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.  It's the first time they've done this, so let's make it huge and bring it back year after year. Make sure you go by this weekend!

Maze-ily yours,
Behka
