Get Loud This Christmas With Broadway Church

Guys, I know when we go to the movie theater, we're all expected to be (for the most part), on our best behavior. WELL.  They tell us that, anyway.  But even if not everyone does it, most of us expect a quiet, dark experience at the movie theater.  Not a lot of talking, no cell phone usage, that kind of thing.

Most movie theaters don't like it when you're loud, anyway. Believe it or not, one of my best movie theater experiences was... the opposite of that.   Of course, not every experience is seeing a loud concert in the theater surrounded by other music nerds dancing to specific choreography while you all sing loudly, "YOU CAN'T STOP ME LOVING MYSELF" at the top of your lungs. But we were all on board and all there for the same reason, so...why not? It was funny, the theater staff even put us in a screen that was away from everyone else so we wouldn't disturb the other showings with our extremely loud chanting.

But that's clearly not the normal experience for the average moviegoer. And that's gotta be a so lame for the little ones, right?  It's like, you never get to go to the movies with everyone unless it's a big movie with lots of other kids in the audience.  Even then, your parents probably don't encourage you to make a lot of noise, because they don't want you to think EVERY movie is like that.

What I think we need here in the States is Pantomime. You might not know what that is (and the word is a little deceiving), but basically it's a thing in the UK, especially around Christmas. Kids go to the show and are encouraged to get loud, sing along, have fun, and shout back. Most times, the kids are even part of the show. Like if the hero is about to do something silly, sometimes they'll prompt the kids to say, for example, "Should I go in this door?", and then the kids can shout, "NOOOOO!". You see.

Anyway, sorry, but as far as I know, we don't have that in the States. Shame, really.

Finally though, the kids get a chance to have fun and be loud with the movies! Let me tell you about this big event coming with the Broadway Church, 209 West Broadway Boulevard. It's coming on Saturday the 16th at 4:30 p.m.

Bring your kids, grandkids, and friends for a fun time of laughing, singing, snacks, and even shouting as we enjoy these timeless Christmas treasures!

So not only do the kids get to go out and have fun with a ton of other kids, but they get to sing and shout along with two movies! And don't worry parents, nothing even remotely controversial/scary/too stimulating here. A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas are the lineup. And these are the original cartoons, so don't get too concerned about anybody getting bored - the actual movie part will only last about an hour. It might last a little longer just to make sure everyone gets a snack, but you're not going to be there long enough for anybody to get too tired. And, it shouldn't even spoil dinner - if anything, they should work up a good appetite by singing along with Snoopy and the Gang and hollering at the Grinch and Max.

And the best part, it's free! You don't even have to reserve a seat!  So parents, grandparents, grab all the kids together and get them down to Broadway Church on Saturday.  It'll be a great way to get the kids out of the house and get some energy out without them being outside in the cold (or more accurately, the mud) for too long.  If you have any questions, you can call them at 660-826-1708.
