A food drive held in Sedalia on the Monday before Thanksgiving exceeded all expectations, according to The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri.

"We had a goal of collecting at least 2,000 lbs. of food," said The Food Bank's Darren White, "and we surpassed that." White says the total amount of food collected was around 2,500 lbs. "Of course that food goes locally to Open Door and Salvation Army, both partners of The Food Bank."

In addition to food donations, White says the drive also collected funds for the Buddy Pack program. "Our goal was $900. We had a great partner, Tigerland Motors, that was going to match up to $900 for the drive. So we made that our goal, at least. We went well beyond that. We collected $1,500." The Buddy Pack program serves over 300 kids in Pettis County.
