Every summer, when the kids leave school, they don't have to leave educational experiences behind.  The Sedalia Public Library has many opportunities for kids of all ages to have fun and keep learning all summer long! The theme of this summer’s reading program is “Fizz, Boom, Read”.  So all the different groups will have a little something to do with the excitement and experimentation that science brings.   All programs will run June 4 – July 23.  The Kick-Off Program is on Wednesday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m. and Science City on the Road will be presenting their “Force & Motion” program.  The program is open to everyone.  This is also the first day you can sign up for the Summer Reading Club.  The Summer Reading Club is for any preschool – 12th grade student who has a Sedalia Public Library card.  They sign-up and receive reading logs, check out books and read.  When their reading log is full, they bring it in and that enters them into the drawing for prizes when the program is over.

Wednesday Programs for Kids are geared to the slightly younger kids out there.  These are the ones we really gotta make sure we keep reading this summer, parents!  The best part about this is, there's nothing keeping the kids away from the library.   Anyone can attend - that means they don't need to have a Library card (although really, it might not hurt to get them signed up for one, would it?). They have some great programs scheduled this summer.   The Snake Lady,  Lego Robotics, Recycled Robots, The Boom of Percussion, that's just some of what's coming this summer.  All programs start at 2:00 p.m. Preschool Story Time for 3-5 year olds is on Fridays in the Queen City Room at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.  starting June 6 and ending July 18.

I got to talk with the Children's Librarian, Amy Elvers, about all the programs the kids can get involved with this summer, and how you can find out  more about "Fizz, Boom, Read."

So make sure to get down to the Sedalia Public Library at 311 W 3rd St.  You can give them a call at (660) 826-1314 or visit their website for more information.
