According to a press release issued by Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond, the pursuit began in Lincoln in Benton County and progressed to Pettis County, where his deputies joined the chase, along with Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers.

During the pursuit, the driver, later identified as Tyler E. Maxton, shut off his headlights, the report said. Once inside Pettis County, Maxton went east on Rose Road, then back on to US 65. The pursuit continued into the Sedalia city limits, where Sedalia Police also joined and assisted with the pursuit.

Maxton turned east on 32nd, then to Clinton Road, to Grand to Harrison and continued north, crossing Highway 50, then back south on Sneed to 16th, continuing west on 16th to Clarendon Road, where he wrecked around 10:17 p.m. Benton County deputies and MSPH troopers then took him into custody and transported him back to Benton County, the report said.

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, Maxton had not yet been formally charged, Benton County officials said, but state charges were being sought.
