Denny Talks about the big 50.

So I have tried to avoid talking about turning 50.  I wanted no big deal made of it,  just wanted to get through it.  As a matter of fact on my birthday I didn't do anything.  I just sat around with my kids and told them about the old days, you know, walking to school 20 miles up hill both ways, etc.

But a couple of very cool things happened surrounding my birthday.  Of course, most of it had to do with music in general - the blues in particular. The first happened last weekend when Jason Vivone and the Billy Bats came to town. They were kind enough to bring me a birthday card and a couple bottles of my favorite adult beverage. How cool is that!?  These marvelous entertainers took time out of their busy schedule to email people to find out what my favorite drink is.  Thank You, Jason and Crew.

The second thing was this past weekend Trampled Under Foot was in town. Now for those of you who aren't from around these parts, they are one of the best Blues Bands in the World.  Everytime you pick up a trade magazine they are nominated for another award, including 3 BMA's! Now for those of you who are regular listeners, you also know they are very special to me and I am grateful for their talents and friendship.

Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd Danielle, who I believe is the best singer, male, or female, any kind of music on the planet,  graciously  sang Happy Birthday to me and said some very kind things.

I know this isn't a review of their show.... but my gosh, what a show Saturday.

Now the 3rd thing that happened was, there is a group of ladies who call themselves the BLUES SISTERS.  They all love the blues, they go to see someone almost everyweekend, and they are very loyal listeners.   I love them all dearly.  They bought me a Trampled Under Foot VINYL album and had the band sign it, and then most of them signed the back.  This meant a lot to me,  it was very special and sweet!

So to all of these folks who made this a very special Birthday for me, seriously- Thank You.

Now can we move on?? It was two weeks ago !  lol
