​The Clinton, MO Fire Department rescued a woman who had fallen into a well Monday afternoon.

A press release from the Clinton Fire Department indicates that shortly after 3:00 Monday afternoon, a crew was dispatched to 173 SE 571 Road, approximately six miles east of Clinton for a report of person who had fallen into a well.

Upon arrival, fire personnel found that Tammy Fields had fallen nearly 15 feet to the water while walking across the well cover. Fields was reportedly unable to touch the bottom of the well and was clinging to rocks protruding from the wall to stay above water.

Golden Valley and Pettis County EMS crews were also on scene and evaluating the condition of Mrs. Fields by verbal communication, while fire crews were preparing vertical rescue equipment to retrieve her from the well.

A firefighter was lowered into the well at approximately 3:45 and once he reached Fields, she was fitted with a rescue harness and personnel at ground level hoisted her back to the surface.

When Fields was cleared from the well, she was evaluated by EMS personnel and then taken to Research Hospital in Kansas City by Life Flight and later released.

The Clinton Fire Department was assisted by Henry County Sheriff's Deputies, Golden Valley EMS, Pettis County EMS and Life Flight personnel.
