The 2013 Johnson County Fair will be held this week through Sunday, July 14 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. This year, the Johnson County Fair Association has brought in some new additions that previous fairs did not feature. They even have a theme, "Country Roots & Cowboy Boots."

There are special events scheduled for every day of the fair. Today, (July 11) KIX 105 will be broadcasting from 5-7 p.m. for the Johnson County Rodeo at 7 p.m.  I enjoy going to the Community Building to see what the 4-H and FFA kids have come up with and they showcase their work in that building. Other featured events include at 7:30 a.m. the Goat Show Weigh-In, Floriculture show entries from 8-9:30 a.m.; 4H/FFA Goat Show at 8:30 a.m.; Sheep Show Weigh In at 10 a.m. and the show at 1 p.m.; A lead line contest at 12:30 p.m; 4H & FFA Tractor Rodeo at 1 p.m. and Steer Show at 3 p.m.

There are lots of shows through each day, but a great new addition is the carnival. The carnival will open at the Johnson County Fair at 2 p.m. on Thursday and Wristband session will be on from 6-10 p.m.  It will feature a ferris wheel, swinger, Fireball, Merry-go-Round, Motorcycles, Hampton Car Rides, Dinos, Antique Cars, helicopters, Racers and Moonwalk. The carnival is provided by E.A.R. Carnival and will feature some great food with cotton candy, footlongs, corndogs and funnel cakes. Tickets are $15 for a 4-hour session and $20 at the gate.

The Johnson County fair has something for everyone.  We'll see you there!

UPDATE: I had a great time on Thursday with the Steer Show and bull riding at the Johnson County Fair. I think everyone needs to check out the work the kids are doing in the Community Center. The Johnson County Fair is going through this weekend and be sure to check the daily schedule for events. A lot of people were happy to see a carnival there since it has not happened in the last few years.  It was open at 6 p.m.

Here are some of the photos from the Thursdays shows. I hope you enjoy the Johnson County Fair.
