Well, the Olympics start this Friday.  I love the Olympics, especially sports like basketball, softball, beach volleyball, boxing... you know, the stuff we as Americans are good at.  We have had some great and not so great moments in the Olympics, such as winning gold in 1980 in hockey, losing and getting bronze in basketball a few years ago.  This has led to some great rivalries, and that is what makes the Olympics fun.  USA vs. Russia in hockey and basketball, USA vs. Cuba in boxing, etc.  But the biggest rivalries of all might just be The Americans vs Germany in beer drinking.

If only it were a Olympic Sport.  I can just hear Bob Costas now: "That was a unbelievable performance by Hans, he downed that 40 oz beer is 4.2 sec.  Perkins, the American, will have his hands full to just try and medal."

"Perkins approaches the podium, grabs the mug, throws it back..OH MY, A NEW WORLD RECORD!  PERKINS GETS GOLD, HE'S A AMERICAN HERO!

Maybe it could be a beer drinking marathon. "Perkins has drank a keg of beer in 26 hours..." Or a combination sport: "Perkins drinks a 12-pack and misses six free throws in a row..."  Well, you get the idea

I say MORE BEER, MORE MEDALS! Say it with me... USA! USA! USA!
