The Montieau County Sheriff's Office says a California, MO man is wanted after a vehicle pursuit that involved a deputy firing at the suspect.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, shortly after midnight on January 21 a deputy attempted to conduct a vehicle stop near Sunny Side Road in Moniteau County. The vehicle reportedly accelerated and fled. The vehicle was pursued down Mt. Hope Road. The suspect then attempted to drive through a low water crossing, which caused the vehicle to flood out and stop.

The suspect, identified as Dalton K. Fisher, reportedly got out of the vehicle while the deputy was on the other side of the water, unable to cross. Fisher was ordered to show his hands. The sheriff's office says Fisher then "took a shooting stance toward the deputy, who then shot at the suspect."

Fisher reportedly fled on foot and was pursued by law enforcement and a K9 unit. The search was abandoned after several hours. A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of methamphetamine, drug packaging materials, digital scales, and two loaded weapons. One was an AR-15 assault rifle and the other was a 12 gauge shotgun.

Warrants have been issued for Fishers' arrest. Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts should contact law enforcement.
