When I was a younger version of me, I was what you could call a "latchkey kid".  It wasn't a bad thing, my parents both worked, and my sister was a few years older than me, so she'd often be out with friends. Me, I walked down the old alley from the bus stop every day and I'd often be home alone. I had little chores I had to do, like taking out the aluminum cans for my Dad to take to the recycler. I'd straighten up the house a little. But mostly, I'd be watching cartoons.

David the Gnome.

The Pirates of Dark Water.

Gummy Bears.

Freakazoid.

Peter Pan and the Pirates.

Tiny Toon Adventures.

And, yes... the Animaniacs.

I'm sure you've heard that they're coming back, with Steven Spielberg working on it. I'm torn, though. On the one hand, it's The Animaniacs! Who wouldn't want to see more of Yakko, Wakko, and Dot? They were so funny and had great songs and there were so many layers to the humor. On the other hand, it's... The Animaniacs. It would be so easy to bring this back terribly. Why isn't the original series good enough? Sure, there are alot of Bill Clinton jokes, but.. shouldn't we leave well enough alone?

I can understand why they want to bring back all these old tv shows and reboot all these movies... it's guaranteed not to lose money. The original fans are going to at least see it so they can vote yea or nea, and it's not like they had to pay someone to come up with an original idea again. But shouldn't it be more than just about the money? Shouldn't be about an escape, about entertainment? It just feels cynical. But, I have to admit - if it does happen, I'll check it out. I'll just have to. But I'll feel a little manipulated to do so. Maybe I'm just a skeptic.

Animaniely yours,
Behka
