Need something to do this lovely September weekend?  I've got you sorted! Here are a few things going on this weekend in the Sedalia area.

The Putting Fore the Kids Golf Tournament will take place at Royal Oaks Golf Course on September 15.

Royal Oaks Golf Course is located in Knob Noster, MO.  Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. All proceeds will support the after school programming for the Boys & Girls Clubs. For more information and to sign-up, email amason@bgckids.com or call 826-8331. Lunch, games and raffles will also take place during the event.

Green Ridge Presbyterian Church will serve biscuits and gravy Saturday, Sept. 15 from 8 to 10 a.m. for a freewill offering.

The proceeds will be used for church scholarships for graduating seniors. Coffee and juice will also be available at the breakfast.

The Memory Lane Foundation for Suicide Prevention 5K Walk/Run will take place on Sept. 15.

The walk will be held on the Katy Trail beginning at the shelter on the west side of the fairgrounds on Clarendon Road. There is a $20 registration fee and all proceeds will help with co-pays for medicine and office visits through Burrell, Katy Trail, and Pathways. This will not be a timed race, but a way to show support and spread awareness throughout the community about suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and the resources there are available in Sedalia.

The annual Green Ridge Harvest Fest is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Green Ridge Park.

A parade will take place at 10 a.m. In addition, there will be food, games, crafts, a prince & princess contest, Air Evac, Life Flight, Sedalia-Pettis County EMA, a silent auction, a pie auction, a tractor show, and a “shine & show” car show. The event is sponsored by the Green Ridge Chamber of Commerce. For more information, contact Jim at (660) 620-3944 or Barbara at (660) 620-3485.

Smithton Baptist Church will hold their annual community fish fry at Smithton Park Saturday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m.

There will be a bounce house for the kids. In addition, there will be live gospel music during the first hour of the event. Door prizes will be given away throughout the evening. For more info, call (660) 473-4220.

The United Way Community Celebration Campaign Kick-Off is being held on September 15th, at Liberty Park.

The event will be held from 11am-2pm. This year, SPCUW has adopted the theme “Embrace Community As Family”. Come and show your support for our military and first responders! There will be a recognition of our local heroes, Huntin' and Fishin' with Harry and MO Kids Outdoors, free food and beverages, a carnival for all ages, and train rides for kids! Demonstrations as well as vehicle displays will be offered by the Sedalia Fire Department, Sedalia Police Department, Pettis County Fire Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Whiteman Air Force Base 135th, Whiteman AFB 509th CES/CED and Whiteman AFB Security Forces K-9 Unit. All funds raised will stay local. Admission is free and this event is family friendly!

There you have it. Sports, food, fun, community, it's all right here. Enjoy your weekend!
