When I was a kid, you couldn't do anything but eat turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving.

And then over the years, Black Friday became a bigger and bigger thing. It got pretty ridiculous with stores opening on Thanksgiving FOR Black Friday. I gotta admit, I don't like that. I have worked on Thanksgiving, and don't get me wrong, I know it's not the end of the world. But it's nice to have a day off where you know you are going to be able to have time with your family to reflect. And eat pie.  So I was glad to see that the website Best Black Friday published a list of more than sixty stores who were fighting against the trend to be open on Thanksgiving. Here are the chain stores in Sedalia who will be closed:

  • Harbor Freight
  • Hobby Lobby
  • Lowe’s
  • EDIT: Marshall's was mistakenly listed here. Sorry.
  • PetSmart
  • Sears Hometown Stores
  • Sprint (Corporate & Dealer Owned Stores; Mall Kiosks May Open)
  • Staples
  • TJ Maxx
  • Tractor Supply

It's also suspected, but not confirmed, that AT&T and Menards will be closed on Thanksgiving.

What do you think? Should stores be open or closed on Thanksgiving Day? Do you favor a partial opening time? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Thanksgivingly yours,
Behka
