Summer is officially here and the kids are wanting something to do..."We're bored!" What's the answer to the age-old summer dilemna?

It only takes a few minutes to make this summer fun and exciting for your kids, and the best part is that it won't cost you an arm and a leg!

Here's a list of activities that are free or relatively low-cost to help keep the kiddos entertained through the next 6-8 weeks.

1.  Have a Picnic - It can be as simple as throwing out a blanket in the back yard or heading out to the nearest park. Whatever the location the kids will have fun and make memories in the outdoors.

2.  Sprinkler Fun - Remember when you were a kid running through the sprinkler and playing with the hose? Water fun out back always leads to laughs and cooler days under the sun.

3.  Fly a Kite - When's the last time you took a couple of hours and got outdoors and flew a kite. You can get ambitious and build your own kite or go to an area store and pick one up along with some string. Just watch out for the power lines and those pesky trees that like to eat kites for lunch!

4.  Backyard Camp Out - Got an old blanket and a clothes line? You're ready to go camping! It doesn't have to be elaborate. Let the kids build it. They'll have fun mastering their shelter. Grab the flashlights, some snacks and cold drinks and let the sun set for an overnight adventure.

5.  Sidewalk Chalk Art - You can buy the chalk at area stores. This will give the kids hours of fun. Creativity is the winner on this one. The best thing is it won't stain the clothes!

That's just a few of the many things you can do all-summer long to keep the kids smiling!
