Got some big news, here! An author in London has finally figured out JACK THE RIPPER'S identity. DNA testing just proved Jack the Ripper was . . . a 23-year-old Polish immigrant named Aaron Kosminski. He killed at least five prostitutes in England in 1888 and wound up dying in an asylum at age 53. It's pretty rare that someone solves a crime that's more than a century old . . . and even RARER that people would care. But here you go.  An author named Russell Edwards in London has figured out the identity of JACK THE RIPPER.  Edwards bought a shawl seven years ago that was found on one of Jack the Ripper's victims and was covered in his blood. DNA testing just linked it to descendants of one of the many, many Jack the Ripper suspects.

And Jack the Ripper was a Polish immigrant named Aaron Kosminski. He wound up dying in an asylum in England at age 53. Jack the Ripper killed at least five prostitutes in Whitechapel, England in 1888 . . . and possibly up to 11.  There have been at least 100 possible suspects for Jack the Ripper, but Kosminski has always been on the top of the list as one of the most likely. The police named him as a suspect back in the 1880s but never had enough evidence to arrest him.

While I suppose it's a great end to a huge story, but.. I'm kinda disappointed.  I'm one of those people who likes to read about serial killers and their horrible acts.  For a long time I thought it was kind of weird or wrong to do that - but as I've gotten older I've realized that a lot of people do that, too.  It is fascinating, and speculation is part of the fun.  Now that we know who it is.............. now that's gonna stop.  All the TV shows, documentaries, movies, books..... now they can't guess anymore!

AND, this dude that they say did it, is the MOST BORING candidate! I've read all about how the Prince of Wales was supposed to have done it, a doctor named William Gull was a candidate,  a painter named Walter Sickert, I've even heard theories that a nurse or midwife lady did it.  Everything I've read bout this case says that the killer was supposed to be an educated, richer man, even possibly a doctor.  This guy was just a regular person!  Well, he wasn't "regular", I mean, he did kill people and ruin lives, but you know what I mean.  He was just a Polish immigrant, one of thousands just like him.  There's nothing special about this guy other than he's obviously insane and wretchedly violent - no special motive, no conspiracy, and NOTHING to do with Johnny Depp.

I guess I'm just a little sad the race is over, you know? Anyway.  I guess it's good that DNA evidence is so powerful it can solve cold cases more than a hundred years old... but still.  I guess I can hold on to the hope that it's a hoax.  After all, this guy hasn't submitted his evidence for peer review, and he hasn't let anybody check him.  Maybe it's just a stunt to sell a book.  WE CAN ONLY HOPE.

Disappointingly yours,
Behka
