We Finally Have a First Look at Steven Soderbergh’s Trippy HBO ‘Mosaic’

We’ve been waiting for years to find out what Steven Soderbergh wrought with perspective-shifting HBO drama Mosaic, and we’re finally getting a first look. Watch a first trailer for the Sharon Stone-Garrett Hedlund series, and get new details of the 2018 premiere.

Soderbergh shared a first-look at the series with Elvis Mitchell at the Future of StoryTelling Festival, ahead of the free PodOp app’s November launch. A six-part limited series version will air on HBO in January 2018, though the trailer explains the perspective-shifting concept in-depth. Check out the poster below:

Here’s how HBO explains the project:

Three years in the making, the MOSAIC app allows viewers to choose what point of view from which to follow the story and, in effect, build their own experience from the material created by Soderbergh and Solomon. The choices one makes build upon one another, enabling multiple tellings of the story from different perspectives and, sometimes, with different conclusions. Viewers will be able to see how their own versions of the story on the app ultimately compare to Soderbergh’s six-part linear narrative in January.

Mosaic is presented by PodOp and developed for HBO by Soderbergh and Casey Silver, along with writer Ed Solomon. Other stars beside Stone and Hedlund include Frederick Weller, Beau Bridges, Paul Reubens, Jennifer Ferrin, Devin Ratray, Michael Cerveris, James Ransone, Jeremy Bobb and Maya Kazan.

We’ll see for ourselves in November, but are Soderbergh fans more inclined to wait for the linear 2018 release?
