The results of a community survey conducted by the ETC Institute in Olathe, Kansas, was presented to the Warrensburg City Council Monday night.

Salma Sahnoun, UCM management intern, said the survey covered 11 areas: perception, taxes and fees, community service, maintenance, parks, code enforcement, traffic, public safety and police, receration, communication and fire department.

The responses to the survey questions were divided by age, income, and military affiliation and UCM students.

The first perception trend indicated that the older the resident, the more likely they are to see Warrensburg as a good place to raise children.

The second perception indicated that the younger the resident, the more likely they are to see Warrensburg as a poor place to work.

More preception trends indicate that the younger the resident, the more dissatisfied they are with the city's trafic flow. And overall, 34.3 percent of the population is dissatisfied with the traffic flow. And 24.6 percent are dissatisfied with the availability of bike lanes and trails.

The older the resident, the more satisfied they are with adult programs offered in Warrensburg.

The older the resident, the more they are satisfied with the quality and diversity of the Warrenburg Senior Center.

In the 18-34 age bracket, 19.6 percent of respondents do not find the Warrensburg City government innovative. 14.9 percent see Warrensburg as a bad place to work. And 17.2 percent are dissatisfied with the usefulness of the information available on the City's website.

The main concerns of residents involve road repair, economic development and crime over the next five years.

As it pertains to UCM students and military personnel, 60 percent of students are satisfied with the quality of life in Warrensburg, while 58.7 percent of military are satisfied with equality of life in Warrensburg.

64 percent of UCM students say they are satisfied with Warrensburg police protection, while 57 percent of military are satisfied.

A total of 30. 8 percent of UCM students are dissatisfied with the maintenance of City streets and sidewalks.

64 percent of UCM students are in favor of adding a tax in order to build a new stormwater infrastructure, or to maintain or replace the current infrastructure, while 48.5 percent of military are in favor.

The biggest concerns for UCM students and the military living in Warrensburg is road maintenance (58%), economic development (56%) and crime (36.5%).

And finally, 77.3 percent of military and UCM students think that the City of Warrensburg is continually improving.

She conducted the analysis on the survey, which involved contacting people by phone, email and on the streets of Warrensburg.

"Overall, I think that Warrensburg is a really good place to live. I think there's a lot of opportunities for students here and it's a small town and there a lot of new perspectives and new jobs that can be created here," Sahnoun said.

"The most important thing is knowledge and learning. Having responsibilities is a lot more important than money. Growing, learning improving yourself is a lot more important than money," she stated.
