With temps dropping to bitterly cold levels, there are several locations around Sedalia offering warming shelter services for residents who may need a place to warm-up.

The City of Sedalia Newsletter says people can visit the Sedalia Public Library during normal business hours to rest and warm up. The library is located at located at 311 W. 3rd Street.

Library hours are:
Monday 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Friday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Sunday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m

The Sedalia Police Department lobby is also open to the public 24 hours a day/7 days a week for anyone who needs a place to get warm.

Along with warming services, it was noted the police department is also hosting Cops for Coats during the winter season. Residents are welcome to pick out a coat at no cost.

The Sedalia Senior Center, at 312 S. Washington Ave is serving as a warming shelter during operating hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 :00 a.m. to 4 :00 p.m.

The Community Cafe, at 417 W. Pettis Street, is offering evening meals, Monday through Friday, beginning at 5 :00 p.m. The doors at  the Community Cafe open at 4 :30 p.m. and close at 6:00 p.m.

In addition, Open Door Service Center, the Pettis County Health Center, Pillars of Pettis County and The Salvation Army have partnered to offer an Emergency Overnight Cold Weather Shelter when temperatures drop dangerously low.

Upon announcement, the Cold Weather Shelter will be set-up at The Salvation Army Service Center, at 1200 E. Broadway Ave from 6 :00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.

According to the newsletter, announcements for the cold weather shelter at the Salvation Army will be made at noon the day prior to the opening.

Announcements will be made through local radio stations and agencies, as well as on the Facebook pages of the Pettis County Health Center, Open Door and Isaiah's Place of Pettis County.
