Sedalia Veterans Day Parade Well Attended [Gallery]

Pettis County turned out to honor its Veterans at a parade in downtown Sedalia Friday afternoon, despite chilly weather conditions.

The parade, which traveled north on Ohio from 6th Street, featured Veterans, elected officials, Cub Scouts (Pack 54), Girl Scouts (Troop 71052), the DAR, the new DARE car, horses & buggies (Trails End), motorcycles, custom cars, thespians, a marching band and cheerleaders (S-C Tigers), radio station trucks (Bob-FM & KIX-105), a tour bus, a Salvation Army canteen and a Sedalia fire truck. And flags, lots of American flags, both in the parade and along the curb.

The Smith-Cotton JROTC made an impressive appearance with a giant US flag carried by cadets, followed a US service flags bearers, and a huge squad marching behind them.

Two dozen personnel from Whiteman Air Force Base also made an appearance at the event, accompanying a Humvee. Tiny basketballs came flying out of another Humvee.

Sedalia School District 200 let out early on Friday to allow students to attend the parade.
