Although final data will not be available until the fall census, Sept. 14,  preliminary  numbers announced after the first week of classes show University of Central Missouri enrollment is on pace for a fifth consecutive record, and could possibly reach 14,000 students. The semester began Aug. 17.

Michael Godard, vice provost for enrollment management, noted that enrollment as of Monday, Aug. 24, was 7.2 percent higher than first-week enrollment in fall 2014. Total headcount for the 2015 fall semester is currently at 13,977, up from 13,035 for the same period last year.

The Mules Football team was receiving votes in the AFCA Preseason Coaches Poll released last week and they are ranked 20th in the D2Football.com Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday night.  The Mules went 8-4 a season ago, including a win in the Texarkana Bowl, and they return 51 lettermen and 15 starters from that group.

The Mules Cross Country team was picked to finish sixth in the MIAA preseason Men's Cross Country Coaches Poll, while the Jennies Cross Country team was picked to finish eighth in the MIAA preseason Women's Cross Country Coaches Poll as announced by the league office Thursday morning.

Central Missouri track and field National Champion Erika Kinsey competed in the high jump at the 2015 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships Wednesday night.  Competing for her native Sweden, Kinsey cleared her best mark 1.89m (6-2.25) on her first attempt, but did not qualify for the final round on Saturday.

Kinsey won both the indoor and outdoor NCAA National Championships in the event in 2015, helping the Jennies to their first ever track and field championship.
